First Video Post – Andrew Runs!

Got this video of Andrew running, and it was too cute not to share.  I’ve also been meaning to work on incorporating occasional videos into the blog so that I’ll be motivated enough to video and analyze my running stride.  (Fun, right?)

Andrew and Will both “run races” in our kitchen and living room, and it warms my heart to see them.  Whether or not they grow up to be runners, I think their early enthusiasm and the fact that we’re modeling an active lifestyle as parents is fantastic.  With the rise of childhood diabetes, diagnosis of ADHD, and all kinds of other childhood problems that can be positively impacted by exercise, I think it’s more important now than ever to promote being an active family.

So, whether you’re a mother-runner, dad jogging next to kids on the bike, or aunt who displays her race medals where the kids can ask her about them, you’re doing something wonderful.

  1. so cute! when I show my daughter how far I run she doesn’t believe me. I’m hoping that eventually she will know she can do it too!

    1. That’s too funny! How old is she? My kids believe me when they’re in the jogging stroller, but sometimes when I do a long run, I don’t even believe how far it is if I drive the route later!

  2. Go Andrew! Love the burp at the end! I agree, parent’s set the example. I would love it if my Little grew to enjoy running as much as the Mister and I do. I ran a 5k this summer and Little signed up for the kids 1k at the last minute. There may have been some persuading to get him through the last 100 meters (who doesn’t need some persuading during the last leg of a race?) but the grin on his face when the race director handed him his ribbon was priceless.

Looking forward to more Vlogs in the future. 🙂

    1. Ohh super cute, I can just picture it! Will did a “fun run” before one of my races, but got too nervous when everyone started running and didn’t finish. He was two. It was not an unexpected possibility – but I bet he’ll be into it next year since he’s always pretending to run races at home too!

  3. Andrew is so cute! I also loved the little burp at the end and the look on your face 🙂 Good on both of you for setting such a great example to your boys, I am sure you will all reap the rewards as they grow up and embrace a healthy lifestyle as it will have been their norm from such a young age.

    1. I hope so! I hope they find something they love and do it 🙂 I really love that there are so many types of exercise out there that have great communities and people get really into.

  4. He is adorable! He will be the next Ryan Hall in no time!

    1. Thanks Amanda! I don’t know about Ryan Hall, but I think he’ll have a healthy lifestyle for sure 🙂 And we can dream!
