My Post-Race Running

The kids didn’t feel like going for a run until we said they could wear santa hats.

Last Sunday was the Chilly Half Marathon, and I’ve been happily easing back into running after a brief recovery.

Here’s what my week looked like:

Sunday: Race Day – 13.1 Miles

Monday: rested

Tuesday: 10 minutes of TRX and 25 minute recovery ride on the stationary bike

Wednesday: rested

Thursday: 5 minutes TRX, 10 minutes on stationary bike to warm up, 2.6 mile run

Friday: rested

Saturday: 5 minutes TRX, 5 minutes on stationary bike to warm up, 3.4 mile run

Next week – I plan to get back into the habit of working out back to back days. I signed up for spin class on Friday, and plan to run about 15 miles and get more familiar with the TRX so I can do more strength training.

I’m enjoying mixing a little stationary biking in; with reduced mileage I have more time to diversify my workouts and I like the way biking feels as a warm up.

I’ll tell you more about the TRX later – but yes, we got one, and I like it!

  1. Hope you enjoy the TRX. I use it a lot at the gym. What are you suspending it from?

    1. I got their “Xmount” and Greg installed it in our gym ceiling for me. We hook up the TRX each time we use it instead of leaving it there so the kids don’t hang on it and slip or get injured. I like it so far – wish it’d come with more of the training cards!
