I ran Andrew to school this morning to get a few miles in, and it was a great start to the day.
It was so nice to be out in the sunshine running instead of in the car – suddenly my commute was an enjoyable and purposeful part of my day.
I’m hoping to do this more often – I have hesitated to do it because Will and Andrew have drop off at the same time, one mile apart three mornings a week. Running means Andrew is even later to school… And yet with morning traffic and parking, only a mile of running (which I could do in under 10 in a hurry) would only take a few minutes more at best. Those few minutes are when the kids are having open play time during arrival, so Andrew won’t miss anything extra in the 3 or 4 added minutes.
I on the other hand would get a 3 mile run out of it, between running to Will’s school, up to Andrew’s school, and home. I would get home about ten minutes later, but my workout would be DONE instead of me getting changed to head out for a run.
That’s a significant difference in time available when you only have 2 hours and 45 minutes before you need to leave for school pick up!
Every minute counts. (That’s not drama. That’s parenting truth!)
How are you getting your runs in?
Brilliant strategy!
