Don’t Buy Running Shoes For The Color

Yeah. I did that. I bought a pair of Brooks Pure Connects in a super fast, fun color that I loved even though I kind of knew they’d have too much arch interference (they call it support) based on reviews.

Back they go.

I’ll get a pair of Brooks Pure Cadence instead – similarly light weight, lower arch…
Not as exciting a color.

But I had a pair of Pure Cadence that I ran my first half marathon in and I loved them, so they’re a smarter choice!

Don’t buy based on color. Be smarter than me.

Please.

  1. They do look fun, but I could never pick them that way. Bunions, flat feet, I have to head to the running store and work with them and try them on the treadmill first. So happy to have a great running store in the hood!

    1. I’m a pretty neutral runner, so every time I go to the local running store they tell me I have tons of options and can pick basically what feels good! So I wanted to try another Brooks since I’ve loved my Ghosts for long or stroller runs where I like having a little cushioning, and I really liked my Pure Cadence I had. The connects seemed so similar to the cadence I hoped they’d also be great, but a little fun and different! Too bad… and I kind of wish all shoes came in 20 colors so you could pick one you loved. Seems like the shoes that work best for me are always not what I really want to wear, and clash with my running gear!
