It’s my birthday!

It’s my birthday!

I’m 32. I don’t have a problem with 32, but I admit that the aging process in general has me concerned. Birthdays are evidence that time is creeping towards the inevitable.

I swear that I was 17 yesterday.

Nerves aside, it’s my birthday, so yay!

I spent the last week running my highest mileage week ever and hit 30 miles. Just two years ago I was celebrating my first half marathon, and now I’m training for a PR… Not just for survival. I am stronger, I am more committed, I am growing. It is good to realize that as an adult we continue to grow and improve.

Still eating plants… But now I’m certified in plant-based nutrition, too.

Still volunteering for the Wellesley Mothers Forum… But this year I’m co-president.

Still seeing my friends from playgroup, but now we meet for book club or coffee or dinner.

Still aging… But healthier and having more fun than ever.

It doesn’t always have to be bigger and better, and some year I’m sure it will be that I have a new interest, a new habit I enjoy, a stronger relationship with a friend. But I know there will be something every year that is better than before, from now until great grandchildren and beyond.

So, fine. Uptick the digits. Add another year. Make me face my own mortality yet again.

I will have the best year ever… Until next year 🙂

These legs ran 30 miles in a week. I am so proud of them.

    My birthday is next week – I’ll be 50-stinkin’-3, but I swear I was 32 yesterday. : )

    1. Right?! That’s what scares me. Not the age itself, the rapid way it keeps going and going and going! Happy almost birthday to you, then, fellow Virgo! (I’m not that into the signs, but I always liked being a Virgo because we’re “smart”.)

      1. Thanks for the birthday wishes. Actually, I’m a Libra. But I’m still smart (most of the time). : )
