Sometimes you run when you can!

I’m going to be honest.  I don’t really feel like going for a long run this morning.  But I’m going to.

I simply don’t have another time in the next five days when I could!  Everything this week is so perfectly scheduled, between hair-cuts and Mother’s Forum Playdates in the Park, that I literally have to go this morning or end up going Friday afternoon and not being able to meet up with the Mother’s Running Group Saturday morning.  It’s been ages since I’ve joined them, because of my previous half marathon training schedule and summer weekend travels, so I really want to go!

That means it’s this morning, or nothing.  I know it can’t be nothing, because I would think back to this moment during a challenging hill come my November Half Marathon and be disappointed in myself.  I HATE being disappointed in myself.  (Races are such great motivators!)

So… a babysitter comes to watch Andrew at 9.  I will put Will in the jogging stroller, run him to school, drop him off at 9:15 (1.5 miles) run back and drop off the stroller, then keep running.  That way, I can get my two hour run in from 9 -11, shower as quickly as possible, and then drive down to pick Will up at 11:30 and get home so the babysitter can leave at 11:45.

Sounds crazy… but if I drove Will to school and then came back and left for my run, I wouldn’t be running until 9:30, which would cut a half an hour off my two hour run, or almost 3 miles.  Not cool!

Sometimes, you just have to run when and how you can!

  1. to the point you have to pack your running clothes just in case you get somewhere and can fit in a run!!

    1. Totally! You may not have a chance to go, but it’s better than having time and not being prepared!
